I took this photo one day on campus in awe of the beauty of the trees. I realized that the trees and plants and nature on campus were some of the only things privy to the effects of various revolutions and changes on campus. Nature was part of campus when the campus was only for white men. Nature was also part of campus when people of color and women started to be allowed to attend the school. When one talks about a revolution we always think about what has changed and not what has remained the same and seen all of the changes. In this course, while I have learned a lot about things that have changed, I have also seen the connective tissue between all of the changes. The connective tissue is composed of the things that haven’t changed and don’t get much attention or are just starting to receive attention.
